Citizens & Northern Corporation

Citizens & Northern Corporation is a bank holding company primarily engaged in community banking, with its main office in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Its largest subsidiary is Citizens & Northern Bank (C&N Bank), a Pennsylvania banking institution. The Corporation also owns Citizens & Northern Investment Corporation, established in 1999 for investment activities, and Bucktail Life Insurance Company, which reinsures credit and mortgage life, accident, and health insurance for C&N Bank. C&N Bank was formed in 1971 through the consolidation of Northern National Bank of Wellsboro and Citizens National Bank of Towanda, operating under its current name since May 6, 1975. The Bank has expanded its reach through mergers, new branches, lending offices, and online and ATM services. As of December 31, 2025, C&N Bank operated 35 branch offices: 28 in the Northern tier/Northcentral region of Pennsylvania, 1 in the Southern tier of New York State, 4 in Southeastern Pennsylvania (3 in Bucks County and 1 in Chester County), and 2 in Southcentral Pennsylvania (York and Lancaster). Additionally, the Bank has a lending office in Elmira, New York. On October 1, 2025, the Corporation completed its merger with Susquehanna Community Financial, Inc. (Susquehanna). Following the merger, Susquehanna Community Bank, Susquehanna's subsidiary with seven banking offices in Lycoming, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union counties in Pennsylvania, merged into C&N Bank.
