Curanex is a developmental stage pharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing innovative botanical drugs for patients with inflammatory diseases. The company aims to address unmet medical needs by utilizing natural substances. Curanex is dedicated to developing botanical medicines for immune and inflammatory diseases, and therapies for autoimmune diseases, metabolic diseases, and viral infections. Its current drug development pipeline includes six core indications: ulcerative colitis, atopic dermatitis, COVID-19, diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease ("NAFLD"), and gout. Curanex's lead drug candidate is Phyto-N, a proprietary botanical extract derived from a medicinal plant with a long history of human use in Chinese traditional medicine. Phyto-N has shown positive results in animal models of multiple inflammatory diseases. The company's research to date has been limited to preclinical studies for each of its indications. Curanex plans to submit an Investigational New Drug application ("IND") for the treatment of ulcerative colitis in the fourth quarter of 2026. If the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") allows, a Phase I trial will begin 30 days after IND submission. Following positive Phase I results, the company intends to proceed with a Phase II trial for ulcerative colitis as its lead indication.
