Coterra Energy Inc. is an independent oil and gas company focused on developing, exploring for, and producing oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids (NGLs). The company's assets are concentrated in the continental U.S. in areas with established hydrocarbon resources, which support repeatable, multi-well development programs. Coterra operates as a single segment: oil and natural gas development, exploration, and production. Its headquarters are in Houston, Texas, with regional offices in Midland, Texas, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, along with field offices near its operational sites. On January 17, 2025, Coterra acquired certain oil and gas property interests in the Delaware Basin in New Mexico for $1.5 billion in cash. Subsequently, on January 27, 2025, the company completed the acquisition of all equity ownership interests in a group of privately owned oil and gas exploration and production companies with assets and operations in the Delaware Basin of New Mexico. This acquisition totaled $2.5 billion, comprising $1.7 billion in cash and the issuance of 28,190,682 shares of common stock valued at $785 million. These acquisitions significantly expanded Coterra's assets and operations in the Permian Basin in New Mexico.
