The company provides indirect financing to customers with limited credit histories or past credit problems, referred to as sub-prime customers, facilitating sales for dealers who might not secure financing from traditional sources like commercial banks, credit unions, or captive finance companies. In addition to purchasing installment purchase contracts directly from dealers, the company has also originated vehicle purchase money loans by lending directly to consumers, acquired installment purchase contracts through four merger and acquisition transactions, and purchased immaterial amounts of vehicle purchase money loans from non-affiliated lenders. All such contracts and loans are referred to as "automobile contracts." The company was incorporated and began operations in March 1991. From inception through December 31, 2025, it has purchased approximately $24.7 billion of automobile contracts from dealers.
