CHEMUNG FINANCIAL CORP

Chemung Canal Trust Company is a financial holding company that provides a range of financial services. Established in 1833 as Chemung Canal Bank, it became a New York State trust company in 1902 under the name Elmira Trust Company, changing to Chemung Canal Trust Company in 1903. In June 2000, the Corporation became a financial holding company, enabling it to offer insurance products, mutual funds, and brokerage services, which generate fee-based income. In September 2001, it established CFS, a financial services subsidiary, offering non-banking services such as mutual funds, annuities, brokerage services, insurance, and tax preparation. The Corporation has expanded its geographic footprint through acquisitions, including Canton Bancorp, Inc. in Canton, Pennsylvania in 2009, and Fort Orange Financial Corp. in Albany, New York in 2011. It also acquired branches in Broome, Cayuga, Cortland, Seneca, Tioga, and Tompkins counties of New York. In 2021, the Corporation expanded into Western New York with a new branch in Erie County, and in 2024, it established "Canal Bank, a division of Chemung Canal Trust Company" with a regional banking center in Williamsville, New York. As of December 31, 2025, the Corporation had $2.710 billion in consolidated assets, $2.270 billion in loans, $2.271 billion in deposits, and $254.7 million in shareholders' equity.
