Company X is a leading provider of technology solutions for improving therapeutics manufacturing. The company utilizes its proprietary CodeEvolver® directed evolution technology platform to discover, develop, enhance, and commercialize novel, high-performance enzymes and other proteins. These enzymes are engineered and optimized for specific functions and characteristics, enabling them to survive challenging environments or perform unique biochemical transformations. Company X applies its technology and expertise to enhance enzyme properties and performance, driving improvements in the manufacturing of complex therapeutics across two key areas: its ECO Synthesis manufacturing platform and its small molecule pharma biocatalysis business. The ECO Synthesis® manufacturing platform consists of enzymatic tools and processes designed for the large-scale manufacture of RNA interference ("RNAi") therapeutics. The CodeEvolver platform technology is used to develop enzymes for RNAi therapeutic synthesis, leading to improvements in purity, yield, and manufacturing efficiency. In November 2024, Company X presented data at the TIDES Europe conference, demonstrating the successful end-to-end enzymatic synthesis of an entire commercially approved small interfering ribonucleic acid ("siRNA") therapeutic asset using the ECO Synthesis manufacturing platform. This included full enzymatic sequential synthesis, adding one nucleotide at a time, and three other routes utilizing enzymatic ligation with their double-stranded RNA ("dsRNA") ligase. For these three routes, data showed that full-length oligonucleotides of equal quality and yields were obtained whether fragments were made with enzymes or by traditional solid phase oligonucleotide synthesis ("SPOS").
