CASI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company that develops and sells innovative treatments and pharmaceutical products in China, the United States, and globally. Incorporated in 1991, the company shifted its business strategy to China in 2012 under new leadership. It has since built an infrastructure in China covering sales and marketing, medical affairs, regulatory and clinical development, and future manufacturing. CASI Pharmaceuticals focuses on acquiring, developing, and commercializing products for hematology oncology, autoimmune, and organ transplant rejection therapeutic areas, as well as other unmet medical needs. The company aims to become a biopharmaceutical leader by launching medicines in the greater China market, utilizing its China-based regulatory, clinical, and commercial capabilities, and global drug development expertise. The majority of its operations are in China, primarily through two subsidiaries: CASI China and CASI Wuxi. In China, the company has 205 full-time employees, including a commercial team of 128 hematology and oncology sales and marketing specialists. CASI China, established in August 2012 and headquartered in Beijing with a Shanghai office opened in 2020, oversees sales and marketing for EVOMELA and FOLOTYN, anticipated commercial activities for pipeline products, technology transfer, local pre-clinical and clinical operations, and NMPA regulatory activities. CASI China also handles business development and executive management, with global management decisions largely made there. In December 2018, CASI Wuxi was established with Wuxi LP to support future clinical and commercial manufacturing, manage supply chains for certain products, and develop a GMP manufacturing facility in China.
