Broadwind, Inc. is a precision manufacturer of structures, equipment, and components for power generation, critical infrastructure, and other specialized applications. Headquartered in Cicero, Illinois, the company provides technologically advanced, high-value products to customers with complex systems and stringent quality standards, primarily in the United States of America. Broadwind's capabilities include heavy fabrications, welding, metal rolling, coatings, gear cutting and shaping, gearbox manufacturing and repair, heat treatment, precision machining, assembly, engineering, and packaging solutions. The company operates in the energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors. Broadwind was incorporated in 1996 in Nevada as Blackfoot Enterprises, Inc., and became Broadwind Energy, Inc. in 2008. Through acquisitions in 2007 and 2008, the company expanded its core platform as a wind tower manufacturer, established its Gearing segment, and developed industrial fabrications capabilities. In early 2017, Broadwind acquired Red Wolf Company, LLC, a kitter and assembler of industrial components primarily supporting the global gas turbine market. In 2020, the company rebranded to Broadwind, Inc., reflecting its diversification strategy beyond wind energy. Concurrently, the Towers and Heavy Fabrications segment was renamed Heavy Fabrications, and the Process Systems segment was renamed Industrial Solutions. The Gearing segment name remained unchanged. The Heavy Fabrications segment provides large, complex, and precision fabrications, with its most significant presence in the U.S. wind energy industry, supplying steel towers and repowering adapters primarily to wind turbine manufacturers.
