Bridgford is primarily engaged in the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of an extensive line of frozen and snack food products throughout the United States. The company began operations in 1932 as a retail meat market in San Diego, California, evolving into a meat wholesaler, frozen food distributor, meat processor and packer, and a manufacturer and distributor of frozen food products for retail and wholesale. Bridgford operates in two business segments: the processing and distribution of frozen food products and the processing and distribution of snack food products. In fiscal year 2025, Frozen Food Products accounted for 25% of consolidated sales, while Snack Food Products accounted for 75%. In fiscal year 2024, Frozen Food Products accounted for 26% of consolidated sales, and Snack Food Products accounted for 74%. The company manufactures nearly all of its food products, which include biscuits, bread dough items, roll dough items, dry sausage products, salami, and beef jerky. Bridgford's direct-store-delivery network handles non-refrigerated snack food products. The frozen food products division serves both food service and retail customers. During fiscal year 2025, Bridgford shifted toward producing more private label products. The company sold its real property located at 170 N. Green Street in Chicago in June 2022.
