Barfresh is engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of ready-to-drink and ready-to-blend frozen beverages and food, including smoothies, shakes, frappes, and juice pops. The company's current operations were established following a 2012 reverse merger into an inactive Delaware corporation formed on February 25, 2010. On October 3, 2025, Barfresh acquired Arps Dairy, Inc., an Ohio corporation, which operates a 15,000-square foot dairy processing facility. This facility is slated to be replaced in 2026 by a new 44,000-square foot facility under construction nearby, providing Barfresh with manufacturing capability it previously lacked. Following this acquisition, Barfresh also provides raw and processed milk to a single significant customer, a legacy activity of Arps Dairy. Barfresh's product portfolio includes smoothies, shakes, frappes, and juice pops, with some products offering benefits such as being from as little as 125-130 calories per serving, containing real fruit in every smoothie, dairy-free options, kosher approval, and gluten-free. Barfresh legacy products are packaged in four distinct formats. The company's ready-to-drink smoothie, "Twist & Go"™, has initially focused on the USDA national school meal program, including the School Breakfast Program, the National School Lunch Program, and Smart Snacks in Schools Program.
