Biofrontera Inc. is a United States-based biopharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, and sells pharmaceutical products for dermatological conditions, primarily focusing on photodynamic therapy (PDT). The company's products include Ameluz and the BF-RhodoLED and RhodoLED XL lamp series, collectively known as the RhodoLED Lamps. These products are used to treat actinic keratosis (AK), a common skin condition involving pre-cancerous lesions. Biofrontera Inc. generates revenue by selling its products directly to dermatology offices and groups through its national commercial team. The company was formed in 2015 as Biofrontera Inc., a Delaware corporation and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Biofrontera AG, a German stock corporation. It completed its initial public offering in 2021. Effective June 1, 2024, Biofrontera Inc. took control of all clinical trials for Ameluz in the United States, managing them through Discovery, its wholly-owned subsidiary formed in Germany in 2022. On October 20, 2025, Biofrontera Inc. acquired all rights in the United States to Ameluz and RhodoLED from the Biofrontera Group through an Asset Purchase Agreement and an Earnout Agreement. On November 6, 2025, the company completed the sale of the intangible asset related to its Xepi product line.
