The Boeing Company is one of the world's major aerospace firms, organized into three reportable segments based on the products and services it offers. The Commercial Airplanes (BCA) segment develops, produces, and markets commercial jet aircraft primarily to the commercial airline industry worldwide. This segment is a leading producer of commercial aircraft, offering a family of commercial jetliners including the 737 narrow-body model and the 767, 777, and 787 wide-body models. Development is ongoing for the 777X program and the 737-7 and 737-10 derivatives. The Defense, Space & Security (BDS) segment researches, develops, produces, and modifies manned and unmanned military aircraft and weapons systems for strike, surveillance, and mobility, including fighter and trainer aircraft, vertical lift (rotorcraft and tilt-rotor aircraft), and commercial derivative aircraft (anti-submarine and tanker aircraft). This segment also researches, develops, produces, and modifies strategic defense and intelligence systems, satellite systems, and space exploration products and related services. The Global Services (BGS) segment provides services to commercial and defense customers worldwide, sustaining aerospace platforms and systems with products and services such as supply chain and logistics management, engineering, maintenance and modifications, upgrades and conversions, spare parts, pilot and maintenance training systems and services, technical and maintenance documents, and digital solutions and analytics. Boeing owns numerous patents and licenses patents from others, and also licenses intellectual property to and from third parties.
