Founded in 1978, the company divested its last semiconductor business in February 2022 for $2.9 billion in cash and now operates solely as a life sciences company. On December 1, 2021, the corporate name changed from "Brooks Automation, Inc." to "Azenta, Inc.," and its common stock trades on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "AZTA". During the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, Azenta announced it is pursuing a sale of its B Medical Systems business, a manufacturer and global distributor of medical refrigeration devices based in Luxembourg.
