Ardelyx is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and selling innovative medicines for significant unmet medical needs. The company currently markets two therapies derived from the active ingredient tenapanor, a sodium/hydrogen exchanger (NHE3) inhibitor discovered and developed by Ardelyx. Tenapanor is a minimally absorbed, first-in-class, oral, small molecule therapy. One therapy, branded as IBSRELA®, is approved in the U.S. for treating adults with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C). Ardelyx is also evaluating tenapanor in a Phase 3 clinical trial for adult patients with chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) to expand the eligible patient population. The second therapy, branded as XPHOZAH®, is approved in the U.S. to reduce serum phosphorus in adults with chronic kidney disease on dialysis. It is used as an add-on therapy for patients who do not respond adequately to phosphate binders or cannot tolerate any dose of phosphate binder therapy. In addition to commercializing IBSRELA and XPHOZAH, Ardelyx is developing a next-generation NHE3 inhibitor.
