ABM Industries Incorporated is a leading provider of facility maintenance, engineering, and infrastructure solutions, operating through its subsidiaries. The company, founded in 1909 as a window washing company, was incorporated in Delaware in 1985 as American Building Maintenance Industries, Inc., and changed its name to ABM Industries Incorporated in 1994. ABM has grown into a multi-segment facility solutions company, primarily through strategic acquisitions and new service offerings, increasing its revenue to more than $8.5 billion. Acquisitions like OneSource and Linc Group in the early 2000s established ABM in the commercial janitorial market and expanded its offerings to include lighting, mechanical, and electrical "technical solutions." The acquisition of Air Serv established "Aviation" as its first industry group. In recent years, ABM expanded its janitorial and technical solutions businesses overseas through acquisitions in the United Kingdom ("UK") and the Republic of Ireland ("Ireland"). In 2015, ABM began a "2020 Vision" initiative, centralizing key functional areas and industry groups, strengthening sales, and investing in service delivery tools. As part of this initiative, ABM sold its Security and Government Services businesses. In 2017, ABM acquired GCA Services Group ("GCA"), a provider of integrated facility services to educational institutions and commercial facilities, representing the largest acquisition in ABM history.
