While some fluid is necessary for health, too much can lead to imbalances and health damage. Signs and symptoms of fluid overload can vary among patients but may include pulmonary edema/pleural effusion, peripheral edema, anasarca (skin swelling), ascites, jugular vein distention, and dyspnea.
