MoonLake Immunotherapeutics is a clinical stage biotechnology company focused on developing therapies for inflammatory skin and joint diseases. The company is currently a single asset company, concentrating on the development of SLK. SLK is a novel tri-specific IL-17A and IL-17F inhibiting Nanobody, exclusively licensed from MHKDG. This Nanobody has shown potential, based on response levels in clinical trials, to modify disease in dermatology and rheumatology patients. SLK is a proprietary Nanobody discovered by Ablynx N.V., Belgium, a Sanofi company, and was previously studied by MHKDG and Avillion LLP under a 2017 co-development agreement. Nanobodies are registered trademarks of Ablynx. These Nanobodies can selectively bind to specific antigens with high affinity and have a fraction of the molecular weight of traditional antibodies. They offer advantages over traditional monoclonal antibodies, including the potential to create multivalent molecules with enhanced ability to penetrate inflamed tissue, especially with an additional albumin binding domain like SLK, an easier manufacturing process, and higher thermostability. MoonLake Immunotherapeutics is developing SLK for inflammatory diseases in dermatology and rheumatology where IL-17A and IL-17F are known to drive the pathophysiology. Current target diseases include hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP), and other inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis (PsO). These target diseases affect millions of people worldwide.
