Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (HII) is a global defense partner that builds and delivers naval ships and technologies for various domains including seas, sky, land, space, and cyber. The company operates through three segments: Ingalls Shipbuilding, Newport News Shipbuilding, and Mission Technologies. For over a century, its Ingalls Shipbuilding segment in Mississippi and Newport News Shipbuilding segment in Virginia have built more ships in more ship classes than any other U.S. naval shipbuilder, making HII America's largest shipbuilder. HII employs over 44,000 people domestically and internationally and is headquartered in Newport News, Virginia. Most of its business is conducted with the U.S. Government, primarily the Department of War, participating in many high-priority U.S. defense programs as a prime contractor, principal subcontractor, team member, or partner. The Ingalls segment focuses on non-nuclear ship design, construction, repair, and maintenance. It designs and constructs non-nuclear ships for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, including amphibious assault ships, surface combatants, and national security cutters (NSC). HII is the sole builder of amphibious assault ships and one of two builders of surface combatants for the U.S. Navy. This segment is located in Pascagoula, Mississippi, on 800 acres along the Pascagoula River. Amphibious assault ships constructed include U.S. Navy large deck amphibious assault ships (LHA) and amphibious transport dock ships (LPD). The Newport News segment handles all nuclear ship design, construction, overhaul, refueling, and repair and maintenance businesses. The Mission Technologies segment develops integrated technology solutions and products for today's connected, all-domain force. This includes C5ISR (command, control, computers, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) systems and operations; artificial intelligence and machine learning for battlefield decisions; defense and offensive cyberspace strategies and electronic warfare; unmanned autonomous systems; live, virtual, and constructive training solutions; platform modernization; and critical nuclear operations.
