FibroBiologics, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company that develops and commercializes fibroblast-based therapies for chronic diseases with significant unmet medical needs. These diseases include wound healing, multiple sclerosis (MS), degenerative disc disease, psoriasis, certain cancers, and potential human longevity applications such as thymic involution reversal using a thymic organoid. The company's most advanced product candidates are CYWC628, CYPS317, CYMS101, and CybroCell™. FibroBiologics was initially formed in April 2021 as FibroBiologics, LLC, a Texas limited liability company, and converted to a Delaware corporation in December 2021 under the name Fibrobiologics, Inc. On April 12, 2023, the company changed its name to FibroBiologics, Inc. The company was formed based on intellectual property obtained from its former parent, SpinalCyte LLC (d/b/a FibroGenesis), through a patent assignment agreement and an intellectual property cross-licensing agreement. Preclinical research and development related to this intellectual property occurred under FibroGenesis prior to FibroBiologics' inception. The company's technology platform utilizes fibroblasts, which are a main cell type of connective tissue, capable of regenerating tissue and organs. While historically believed to primarily produce the extracellular matrix, fibroblasts have also demonstrated roles in immune modulation and maintaining stem cell niches, and are important in every stage of wound healing.
